About Diana
Dr Diana Adis Tahhan (PhD) is a Multi-discipline Therapist and the founder of Sydney Healing and Research Centre. She combines insights from psychology, theology, sociology, neuroscience, olfactory science, medical anthropology and the science of touch to help people address their emotional and physical health holistically.
Diana is passionate about theories of embodiment and the power of the mind to overcome illness and disease. After 25 years of living with pain, immobility, inaccurate diagnoses, and attempting endless forms of treatment and therapies, she found a combination of healing modalities that changed her life and helped her thrive. She shares this with people who live with pain or chronic illness, who are seeking a healthier lifestyle, and for those who are open to improving their daily experience, particularly in the context of stress and anxiety.
She teaches about the power of the mind and various natural therapies available for healing, helping bring people to homeostasis. From this relaxed state and a deep awareness of what they can do to help themselves heal, Diana empowers people to improve their lives and help them find peace amidst the noise.
Diana is also an author who has published in the areas of cultural anthropology, Asian Studies and sociologies of the body. Her most recent book, published in June 2024, is the first of The Truth Series entitled, ‘The Truth about High School: An Applied Philosophy for Life’. She is also a motivational speaker and helps bring hope and peace to people’s lives. Her talks range from naturally supporting your health and bodies to arming individuals with the tools to cope in this everchanging digital and secular world.
She is passionate about helping people find peace in their lives and, as an Orthodox Christian, applies where relevant, the wisdom and insights of her faith. She is the mother of three children: Amika, Zen and Kaiya, and together with her husband Daniel, are raising them to stand in truth and faith.
Fun facts about Dr Diana
Diana lived in Japan on and off over a period of ten years, studying, researching and travelling. She always planned on getting a professorship in Japan and gave her children Japanese names and characters which fit their personalities beautifully and would have helped them adjust had the family moved to and lived in Japan.
Amika 愛美花 loving beautiful flower
Zen 善 kindness/goodness of heart
Kaiya 海愛 love for the ocean
Due to various health complications, they never had a fourth child, but their dog's name, Kenji (健二), means ‘second son’ in Japanese.
The Japan link has always been important to Diana and her early research in Japan helped devise a theory about touch, intimacy and the body which underlies much of her work now. She also runs a karate dojo with her father (the ‘Sensei’) and together they empower teenagers and children weekly.
